crimsonsparrow: (yeah I know I'm bad)

Wednesday, Week 3 | who's that chop chop choppin down my chamber door?

[Look out, City Hall: Suzaku's here with an invisible axe and he's ready to get to work. Out of all the locked doors, the Mayor's Office seems the most interesting...so that's precisely where he's heading.]

[ Suzaku would find the City Hall particularly empty. There's no noise but his own footsteps. Not a single brush of a branch against a window, not a settling of the foundation — it's dead, Jim.

However, out of the corner of his eye — he does see a shadow cast down the hallway briefly towards the Mayor's Office before disappearing from sight. ]

[ His Invisiaxe™ would make quick work of any competitor, but he finds nothing at the end of the hallway. He's now faced in front of the extravagant wood door. The wood was intricate, decorated with symbols and a language he can't decipher.

Are you going to do the thing? Are you going to make your horror movie debut? ]

[ There is definitely a knob! It's polished copper only slightly dusty with age. The first whack knocks the knob off completely, sending it bouncing down the hallway. There is a hole Suzaku can peer through.

Will he? Or will he open it directly? ]

[ With the door open, there's a resounding creeeeeak, as if the door has long since been closed.

Suzaku just looks silly with his axe like that! However, as soon as he walks in, the door slams behind him. Spoopy, right?

For now, he will be able to view the Mayor's Office in all of it's glory. From the first glance, it looks pretty typical. There's a sofa for guests, a few chairs in front of an imposing wood desk. Plenty of photos of presumably the mayor hanging from the wall, but his face has been noticeably blurred out. A typewriter on the desk with a piece of paper sticking out of it. Rows of books line the shelves with countless medals of an unknown military configuration.

So! This is your candy store, what are you going to do? ]

[ If he looks at the painting, he will note there is nothing abnormal behind it. The date "May 22nd" with no year is signed on the bottom left corner, though.

There are a few things on the bookshelf he can glance at that sticks out among the rows: a small boat in a glass bottle with large tentacles wrapping around it, a small stuffed crow on the top shelf, and a thick book that reads Lake Crotin: Yuggoth's First Blessing. ]

[ Now, if Suzaku solely focuses on the typewriter, he ignores the shadow flicker from the left side of the room. In the paper, the following is read: ]

MISS KIRKLAND,

It has come to my attention that the radio tower has been scheduled to begin construction July 14th in the South of Yuggoth. I am very pleased to hear this! I was over the moon knowing we were one step closing to another blessing. This city has seen so many hardships over the years and yet, it thrives. I would like to schedule a public tour first thing on such day for groundbreaking. Ms. Phillips has been donated generously with her foundation and I believe with this radio tower, we can finally accomplish the impossible.

I request you schedule a barber ahead of time, I'd like to look cleanly shaven for the photographers.

- Mayor Johnson

[ It's a really heavy book, so if he wants to take it, sure! The general gist of the first few pages is talking about The First Blessing, a natural lake free of any toxicity and crystal clear waters. It talks about the founding of Yuggoth around the lake and how the forest surrounding the city flourished due to the lake itself.

The shadow flicks behind him, but gone as he looks to his left or right. Could it be paranoia?

What else would he like to look at? ]

[ The sofa has two half-finished glasses of bourbon on the side and a ... still-burning cigarette. Huh.

He'll hear a soft thump behind him, one that is not contributed to paranoia. ]

[ It was from the window across the room. There's no obstruction, no stray tree limb brushing against the glass. However, if he notes: there is a desk drawer now open. ]

[ But, also, he'll find a few short enclosed letters. Inside, one of them is an invite to the Higher One's commencement ceremony at the Yuggoth Church. The second one is a small thank you letter from Abigail Phillips for the Mayor's endless support for her research for the HP Formula.

Huh. ]

[ As of right now, there is nothing else! However, as Suzaku looks towards the door... he'll feel an immense headache overwhelm him. If he shuts his eyes, he'll smell lavender in the air and feel a warm touch on his cheek. Like a hand. ]

You shouldn't have come here. Return home to the others. You have proof of your bravado.

[ Suzaku will then feel entirely sleepy. He'll pass out, weapon and items in tow. When he awakens in a few hours, he'll be nicely tucked into bed. If he returns later on to the Mayor's Office, he'll find the doorknob reattached. ]
